This is a triple-carb setup on a 425cu.in. Oldsmobile V8. It’s a mechanical setup, meaning that the car basically drives on the centre 2-barrel carb most of the time, but when you stomp the loud-pedal the outer carbs (which are basically just accelerator pumps) open and give you a ton of fuel. Once the motor went in, this setup was having some trouble at idle as the butterflies just weren’t quite seating correctly. Normally this wouldn’t lead to quite as big and issue as it did, but since the outer carbs don’t have any idle circuits there was a massive vacuum leak. After some time spent getting everything to fit just right which meant pulling carbs apart a few times, it idled smoothly.
