Since I top-mounted the turbos on the 2.7tt it’s safe to say things get a little hot under the bonnet (that’s hood for my American compatriots). When I originally built the car i used a fibreglass heat wrap mostly for the simple reason that I could get it in black. A couple things to note: 1. Fibreglass heat wrap is made of fibreglass which means every time you touch it you get itchy fragments in your skin. 2. When the turbos are top mounted you end up touching said heat wrap all the time and therefore getting itchy and 3. Fibreglass heat wrap doesn’t stay a colour, as it gets hot it always goes white and it then is goes like glass as it melts, and then it just flakes off.

So, this time the manifold and downpipes got treated to a covering of titanium heat wrap which doesn’t itch and will hopefully hold up a bit better.
