This is a set of original Avus 17″ wheels that needed a refurb. They were fundamentally in fairly good shape, just tired from 120k of road use. 
Sand, prime, sand, prime – continue until the finish is lovely and smooth with no signs of scratches or other blemishes. The key to a good finish is always in the time spent prepping and sanding.
Once they were finished it was difficult to tell they weren’t brand new.
